Bookmaking reflection

Bookmaking reflection

I think I have done the bookmaking a little less conventionally than anticipated. While I enjoy the handmade creation of something, I often find myself gravitating towards a cleaner graphic design via computer generation or other similar means. I chose to use an online designer that I have used for other projects to design this particular project because I felt I would be able to convey a little better how I want the cover to look. I liked the pink of the original paper I used to write the poems on, so I kept a similar shade as my background. I also added the use of different fonts, as I believe it creates a different impact and draws the eye from the title downwards. The gradient I knew I would not be able to show on paper, and but I loved the color transition, almost a melancholy purple-blue melting into a lovely rose as the narrator sees their lover. The heart is stylized, but looks similar to what would be hand-drawn if I were to have gone that route. I think, once I create a book that is not meant for just one poem, I will enjoy the creation process a lot more, and definitely be able to delve in on paper instead of on screen.
